This week, the students learned about the two brothers. One asked for his inheritance, left home, lost it all, and became a pig farmer. He returned home to be welcomed by his father, much to the dismay of his brother who had remained loyal to his family and worked hard at home while his brother was gone. The father's forgiveness is inspiring. The students are working on a spirit-lifting box of positive messages for a church member going through a difficult time, and they also attempted to make their own, awesome mosaics out of corn, rice, and beans!

This week, the students learned all about King Solomon and the gift of Wisdom that he asked God for. They discussed what they would ask God for and saw a visual representation of the material things in life not following a person through to the afterlife. Then, they created the temple and a spirit box for one of our members going through a difficult time. 3/10/2019 0 Comments Sunday School Fun: March 3, 2019March 10, 2019 / Leave a Comment

Today the students learned about how families remember God. From the book of Deuteronomy, the students talked about how Moses explained God's instructions for us. They used building blocks without instructions. They needed to create a bunch of things together without having any directions. They also created their own scrolls. "Love God with all your being, teach it to your children, recite it when you wake and lie down, bind it as a symbol on your body". They also created a banner together all about where you can find wisdom. The congregation helped by adding their ideas about where to find wisdom. They also got to finalize and send some valentine cards for our shut-ins. This week's lesson was about leprosy, so they also got to see some pictures of the effects of leprosy and be bundled up in bandages (toilet paper) to simulate leprosy. One of our young parishioners really needs your prayers. Jessica Williamson (daughter of Kathy and Carl Williamson) is a freshman at Vilanova University. In September, she was experiencing severe headaches and came to find that she had a tumor in the left frontal lobe of her brain. She had surgery at the University of Penn Hospital in October and they were able to remove most of the mass. However, a small portion is rooted near her speech center and the remaining tissue was treated with radiation and chemotherapy. In addition, she also started immunotherapy and an MRI is performed every three months to monitor her progress. She has returned to school and, despite her challenges, has been working hard and volunteering her time to help children with special needs. She is an inspiration and, given her courage, needs both our prayers and encouragement. If you have the capability to access her on-line the link is posthope.org/one-miracle-day-at-a-time-with-jessie. Her father is managing the website and everyone is welcome to send her positive thoughts. It really does make a difference and she is open to sharing her experience. Take a moment and let her know that you care. February 9, 2019 / Leave a Comment
Today, the students got to make cards for our shut-ins for Valentine's Day! It was a truly interesting and fun to see them get so creative! Also, they created a cool web of yarn while answering questions about their thoughts and beliefs as they reflected on the stories about Jesus's time period and the miracle he performed by bringing a child back to life. |
