Prayers
December 2017 Prayer:
Our hearts are glad, gracious God, that once you came among us as the Prince of Peace, to show a world often filled with sorrow and strife a better way. You have called us as your disciples to follow you as peacemakers and promised to call us your children as we seek peace. Let me not, O Lord, fail you in this calling. In shame I confess that I have not always lived in peace of spirit. Dark clouds of self- pity, of distrust and even of enmity have sometimes corrupted my soul. I have walked amid scenes of outward peace with a warring spirit within, and I have encouraged strife by indifference to the needs and heartaches of others. Give me, O Lord, a new spirit. As leaders of nations counsel together, give them wisdom for their great tasks. Give them understanding of those whom we are too prone to call our enemies and give them also, a reconciling spirit. Show me my task as a peacemaker, and give me the wisdom and courage to perform it. In the name of the Prince of Peace I pray. Amen. |
